Presenting: Learning Styles and Learning Differences.
Dr. Hendrickson is a practicing educational therapist in Solana
Beach with a background in medicine, psychology and educational
therapy. She works with children with learning differences, especially
reading challenges such as dyslexia, utilizing multisensory techniques.
She is on the board of IDA, San Diego and serves as their secretary.

Jennifer Petrich, Ph.D.
Presenting: Recent Research on Dyslexia
Dr. Petrich is a researcher in the Laboratory of Language and Cognitive
Neuroscience at San Diego State University. She holds a PhD in Neuroscience
and has completed research on developmental dyslexia as well as
on other topics in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. She worked
as a clinician in Baltimore, MD for five years teaching Lindamood-Bell
programs to both children and adults and presents workshops these
programs. She is on the board of IDA, San Diego.

Linda Altes is a psychologist in private practice with over seventeen
years experience in assessment and diagnosis of emotional problems,
learning disabilities, and attention deficit disorders that interfere
with academic success. She believes that with accurate assessment,
new strategies, and support, students regain their sense of hope
and mastery so they can achieve their full potential.

Danielle Shulman is a pediatric occupational therapist who has
her private practice in Carmel Valley. . Danielle works with children
who have difficulty with fine motor skills (such as handwriting,
coloring, cutting), visual motor and perceptual skills, and sensory
integration. She treats children with a variety of diagnoses such
as autism, sensory processing disorders, learning disabilities,
ADD, dysgraphia, and cerebral palsy.

Laurie (Silverman) Hikel, M.A./CCC has practiced Speech Pathology
in San Diego for over 25 years, initially serving the "learning
disabled" population in the public schools with a move to private
practice in 1984. She works with both children and adults with a
variety of communication disorders. Regardless of the speech and
language disorder or age of the client her treatment is family centered
with a team approach to therapy, providing ongoing support for families
and caregivers of individuals with communication needs.
